Irene_Taravini

Irene Taravini studied at the School of Pharmacy and Biochemistry of the University of Buenos Aires and obtained the title of Biochemistry in 2000.

She then did her doctoral thesis at the LABORATORY OF EXPERIMENTAL PARKINSONISM under the direction of Dr. Oscar Gershanik, called “Study of the effects of the neurotrophic factor pleiotrophin in an animal model of Parkinson's disease”.

In 2009 she obtained her doctoral degree with a score of 10 points (outstanding) and during her postdoctoral training in the same laboratory she developed a mouse model of L-DOPA induced dyskinesia in transgenic mice to study the dendritic remodeling and structural adaptations that undergo striatal neurons after L-DOPA therapy in Parkinson’s disease.

In 2012 she obtained a position as Assistant Investigator at the Scientific and Technological Researcher's Career of CONICET under the direction of Dr. Gershanik and the co -direction of Dr. Gustavo Murer.

Since 2017 she is in the category of Associate Investigator of CONICET. Currently, she is director of the Laboratory of Experimental Neurobiology at the National University of Entre Ríos and is a Concurrent Researcher at ININFA.
