Juan Pablo Rodríguez graduated from Facultad de Ciencias Exactas y Naturales y Agrimensura (FACENA), Universidad Nacional del Nordeste (UNNE) as a Biochemist. He later achieved his PhD degree in Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA), specializing in Immunology and Biochemistry.

Dr. Rodríguez is currently Associate Professor in the Biological Chemistry Area of FACENA “Degree in Biological Sciences” and Adscr. Associate Professor in the Biochemical Area of UNNE Medical Faculty. He is also a CONICET Assistant Investigator, developing his activities in the “Laboratorio de Investigaciones Bioquímica de la Facultad de Medicina” (LIBIM) in UNNE, in Corrientes as well as in the LABORATORY OF MOLECULAR PHARMACOLOGY AND ONCOLOGY in ININFA-UBA-CONICET, Buenos Aires.

Dr. Rodríguez started his scientific research in the Laboratorio de Investigación en Proteínas (LabInPro-UNNE), directed by Dr. Leiva, where he participated in diverse projects related to snake venom protein purification and pathophysiological characterization, as well as obtaining the corresponding neutralizing antibodies.

Early in his career, two fellowships allowed Dr. Rodriguez to perform two consecutive internships and specialize in Immunology and Molecular Biology in INGEBI and IDEHU. Thus, he decided to investigate how snake intoxications affect the immune system. In collaboration with Dr. Margni’s group, and upon Dr. Malchiodi’s direction from IDEHU later, he obtained his PhD degree in FFyB-UBA and postdoctoral fellowships (UNNE y CONICET). In the context of a CONICET-UNNE Post-doctoral fellowship, he studied the implication of PLA₂s in immune system cells treated with different stimuli. This led him to associate with Dr. Balsinde, from the Molecular Biology and Genetic Institute (IBGM) in Universidad de Valladolid (UVa) in Spain, where he started his studies in human macrophage lipidomics. He prolonged his stay in Spain with another post-doctoral fellowship from the Carolina Foundation (2011-2013) and specialized in the determination and quantification of lipid species in different cellular systems. Dr. Rodríguez returned to Argentina as part of Dr. Aguirre’s and Dr. Davio’s research teams, where he studies lipid markers in renal carcinoma progression. In the context of an agreement between UNNE and UVa, he collaborates with the IBGM in the lipid analysis and functionality of MRP4 (Multidrug resistance-associated protein) in clear cell renal cell carcinoma.

To date, Dr. Rodríguez has published 11 original articles, has co-directed three PhD thesis (two of them scored the maximum mark possible) and has recently started the direction of two PhD thesis. He has participated as an international jury in three PhD thesis from the Valladolid University and two from UNNE. He has established various local collaborations and is currently associated with Dr. Teixeira and Dr. Leiguez in San Pablo University.

In his leisure time, Dr. Rodríguez actively contributes with the “Arquímides” Science Club in the “PIO XI” Salesian secondary school since 1993, when he was elected funding president. He organizes computing meeting in which knowledge about recent and innovative software is shared. He is currently in charge of putting together the “Philosophical Coffee” in Fundación Perfiles, where cultural experiences, as well as diverse political thoughts, are shared.
